Grant is Chief Operating Officer at Kingsdale Advisors, having joined the firm in 2013 with over three decades of financial and professional services experience spanning Canada, the UK, and Australia.

At Kingsdale, Grant is closely involved in all aspects of our proxy, corporate actions, and shareholder outreach services, including routine shareholder meetings, special situations requiring preferred shareholder approval, the full range of credit situations from simple consent to complex balance sheet recapitalization, friendly or hostile M&A activity, and proxy fights. Grant focusses on providing superior client service with an emphasis on strategic advice, development of key messaging and outreach strategies, and creative operational solutions for transactional or balance sheet recapitalization events.

Grant’s select M&A experience includes acting for Enbridge in its $37 billion acquisition of Spectra Energy; Agrium and Potash Corp in their $36 billion plan of arrangement; Tim Hortons in its $12.5 billion plan of arrangement with Burger King; Fortis in its US $11.3 billion acquisition of ITC Holdings; Goldcorp in its US $10 billion contested deal with Newmont Mining to create the world’s largest gold miner; and Encana in its US $7.7 billion acquisition of Newfield Exploration.

Grant’s select Restructuring experience includes acting for: Thomson Reuters in its US $9 billion substantial issuer bid; Concordia International in its $4.2 billion precedent-setting simultaneous CBCA plan of arrangement and Chapter 11 recapitalization; Algoma Steel in its $2 billion credit bid to emerge from CCAA; and Jupiter Resources in its $1.1 billion CBCA recapitalization and conversion of public debt to private company equity.

Grant’s other select special situations experience includes acting for: JANA Partners in their proxy fight against Agrium; Loblaws in its spinout of Choice Properties REIT; Alignvest (SPAC) in its qualifying transaction with Sagicor and Eco Oro in three capital raises involving units and interests in contingent value rights.

Prior to joining Kingsdale, Grant held senior roles with CIBC, Union Bank of Switzerland, and Salomon Brothers. His roles have encompassed operations, acquisitions, business management and audit.

Grant started his career in public accounting and is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology in Sydney.
